Who this policy covers

This policy describes the AI Coach application provided by Unknown Frontier LLC and its current handling of information. It also explains the external processing needed to generate a response. Separate websites and service providers have their own policies.

You do not need an account, name or email address to use the coach. Please do not enter identifying details, sensitive medical or financial information, or information about another person that you are not authorized to share.

Your messages and the visible conversation

The application processes the text you submit to prepare a response. A limited selection of earlier messages and replies is included to help the coach follow the conversation.

The full visible thread stays in the memory of the open page. The application does not save it as a conversation history in its database, cookies or browser storage. Refreshing the page or choosing “Start fresh” clears it from the interface. You cannot restore it through this application.

Copying a response places it on your device’s clipboard. Copies you keep elsewhere are under your control. Clearing the interface does not undo processing already performed by external providers.

How a response is prepared

• OpenAI: receives your message and limited earlier user wording to represent the question for search. It also receives your current message, limited conversation context and selected book passages to generate the reply.
• Supabase: stores the authorized book library and processes the numerical representation of your search to return relevant passages. The application does not write your conversation into that database.
• Vercel: hosts this website and runs the application server. Requests, including the messages you submit, pass through this infrastructure to prepare and deliver responses. Vercel may process connection and operational information, such as IP addresses and request metadata, for hosting, security and service operations. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice. The application does not intentionally write messages or replies to its server logs.

OpenAI processing and retention

The application requests that generated responses not be stored as retrievable response records. This setting does not guarantee zero retention by OpenAI.

OpenAI’s published API policy states that API data is not used to train its models by default unless the account owner opts in. It also describes abuse-monitoring logs that may contain content and are generally retained for up to 30 days, with exceptions and other retention rules depending on features, account settings and legal obligations.

See OpenAI’s data controls documentation for the current details. We do not promise complete confidentiality or immediate deletion across every provider. Providers may process information outside your country.

Technical usage records

The production application on Vercel does not write the local pilot’s API cost log. During local development, the pilot can record request time, model names, completion status, token counts and estimated API cost to understand usage and control expenses. These application records contain no message text, answer text, book passages, name, IP address, cookie value or user identifier.

Existing local technical cost records have no automatic deletion schedule; they remain until manually deleted by the operator. They are separate from a conversation history and cannot reconstruct the content of your session.

The application does not include advertising, behavioral analytics or a mechanism for selling conversation data. Message processing by the providers described above is necessary to deliver the service.

Cookies and browser storage

The current application does not create tracking or conversation cookies, and does not use local storage or session storage to save your chat. Language choice and conversation state remain in the open page.

An earlier pilot used a temporary random cookie and a technical counter to limit usage. That limit is no longer used. If the old cookie is present, it expires or is removed on a subsequent coach response. Historical counter records, containing a token hash, count and expiration time but no conversation text, may remain in the database until administrative deletion; the current app does not consult them.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can decide what to share, stop using the coach, clear the visible conversation, or copy a response for your own records. Avoid submitting anything you need to remain completely private.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or information about processing, or to raise a concern with a data protection authority. Contact Unknown Frontier LLC through the website below. Because the application does not keep identifiable chat histories, it may be unable to retrieve a past conversation or associate a technical record with you.

External providers’ retained records are subject to their own controls and applicable obligations. The application’s “Start fresh” action is not a deletion request to those providers.

Security and external links

Access to the private source library is handled by the application server. No online service can guarantee absolute security or confidentiality. The coach is not a place to store sensitive documents or secrets.

Opening an external contact, privacy or crisis-resource link takes you to a separate service. Its privacy practices apply to your interactions there.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated when the application’s handling of information changes. The effective and last-updated dates are shown above. New deployment providers, analytics or account features would require an updated description before being introduced.
